To,
Dr. David Copper
Acting Executive Secretary
Convention on Biological Diversity

Dear Mr. Copper,

The CBD Alliance wishes to express its deep concerns regarding the composition
of the Ad hoc Technical Expert Group on Indicators for the Kunming-Montreal
Global Biodiversity Framework. We note that there is a strong regional imbalance
in the observers of the expert group on indicators (11 out of 15 are from the Global
North!), and are deeply saddened that none of the proposed representatives of the
CBD Alliance has been selected for this expert group.

We believe the CBD Alliance has worked tirelessly to contribute with diverse
views, often bringing a different perspective on matters at hand. We are well-connected with grassroots organizations from around the world, and our views are
the result of broad and inclusive dialogues.

While recognizing and thanking the Secretariat for its past recognition and
collaboration with the CBD Alliance, we are disappointed the CBDA experts were
not considered on this occasion, and we hope we can count on your appreciation
of the CBD Alliance’s role in the CBD and that our voices will continue to be
heard in future occasions.

Sincerely Yours

CBD Alliance
